The Dunes is a competition-based project. The land owner has proposed a design competition for the existing equestrian club to be renewed. The land is situated on the southeastern side of Dubai’s airport and is set amongst multiple other equestrian clubs. The competition encourages designs that reflect the site’s nature and enrich its cultural and heritage values. Our design for the club celebrates the landscape of the area by continuing the topography of the surrounding dunes. We have decided to use simple patterns and human-friendly scales and proportions. The design celebrates the heritage and simplicity of the desert.
